We took the Toyota Sequoia up to NJ for a round trip of 650 miles. The truck did great. I was slightly worrying since I had not taken it out for a drive longer than 35 miles yet. This went against my common sense approach of slowly doubling the distance driven each weekend as a confidence builder. Oh well, the truck did great. I even averaged 18 miles to the gallon for the trip up. I have not filled up yet to see how I did coming home, but I had 100 miles of driving in the mountains of NJ so I do not expect it will be that high this time. I am expecting it to be in the 14.XX range. I did not buy the truck for its gas mileage, I bought it for all the space the darn thing has in it.
We had a great hike on Sunday. We climbed to the top of Mount Tammany. Round trip was 4 miles and it took 3 hours to do, including our rest breaks, snack breaks and time to take pictures. The hike back down did me in and I was really sore in my ankles. It was worth the pain to be at the highest point over route 80 that we have ever hiked.
And after the hike we stopped at a plant and garden shop and what did we see a couple houses down? a fire truck for sale! 5,000. gets you this truck! That is insane! But I would still rather have the Sequoia for the price.
We really had a great weekend! Thanks Mom and Dad!
