Y5W14 Day 1

AM:

30 min elliptical trainer with 15 min being intervals

PM:
dealing with the new truck.

So I went to my insurance and deleted the motorcycle and added the Sequoia. I left work early and was able to go to the garage and get the low down on the needed repairs. The truck does need repairs. I will be paying somewhere around 2 grand for repairs. Some of it sooner, some of it later. The service manager talked to me after the owner left and asked about the truck. He was curious how much the were asking. When I told him 5,000 he told me BUY IT! even if you have to pay for all these repairs, these are all normal wear items that will need to be replaced over time on any vehicles you are looking at this old. So I am buying it tomorrow. I tried to get them down a couple hundred but they are not flexible. I have looked too long to find a vehicle in this kind of amazing shape not to get it. I let the last one slip through my fingers over a $500 dollar difference in price.

Y5W13 Days 6/7

Yep, Lazy, 1 post 2 days.

Yesterday was a good day, I hit the gym, went to DMV to turn in my scooter license plate and spent some time with my wife before she needed to go to the Avon breast cancer walk to volunteer as a medical staff. I researched cars and found 2 possible ones to see today.

Today my wife and I started the day with a 45 min bike ride as our morning cardio. We followed that with a couple hours working in the garden. From there we went and looked at a Toyota Sequoia that I think is the one! It was great running, clean and the the truck is being sold by a career soldier in the Army. The place I selected for us to meet turned out to be next to both a church and a Synagog! My wife likes the truck as well so I just need to get it checked out then I am buying it! If for some reason they back out of the service shop looking it over I think I am still going to buy it. It was that amazing.

Y5W13 Day 5

AM:
45 min elliptical machine

PM:
I sold the scooter. I got full price so I was happy. I kicked the buyer 100 back to put towards the maintenance. He is prior service military (retired) and I am happy the bike is going to him. It is sad to see it go. This is the first time in my life I sold a vehicle that I did not want to see go, but I needed to so I can make room for a truck. It was a fair tradeoff. Every other vehicle I have ever sold, I sold it because it was done, needing major future repairs, or was just turning into a peice of SH!T. Oh well.

Y5W13 Day 4

AM:
4 rounds of 6 reps dumbbell routine with 30 lb dumbbells.

30 min elliptical machine

PM:
none.

I needed to skip the gym today to go to a bookstore to buy a magazine that had a free computer operating system in it. I hosed up my old pc trying for an upgrade when my current system started making some noises that was not normal. I managed to screw up a working computer trying to upgrade it. I was running linux on it so I figured I would get another copy of linux and run it live off the disc. Nope so far did not work. So I am using my school mini laptop to do this blog.

I received a call from the folks that came over to see the scooter. They are interested in it. They plan to be by tomorrow after work to pay for it if the rain holds off, otherwise Saturday it is. I am sad to sell it. I really like it, but in order to get a suburban or other vehicle this is the only way.

Y5W13 Day 3

AM:
3 mile jog

PM:
30 min elliptical trainer

Work today was easy and then it was time for the gym before I knew it. I had a call about selling my scooter yesterday and the couple came to see it today. They liked it and gave me a nominal deposit to hold it for them until Saturday. They may or may not actually buy it but I would feel good about selling it to them. I will be sad to see it go but it is what I need to do to get a truck like I want.

Y5W12 Day 7 with link to PIX!

So we were home today and had a lot to do. we went for a hike, spent an hour at the community garden planning the pay out, we went to Home Depot to but materials then spent a few hours putting the boxes together. It is 9:48 pm and my day is not done.

Here is a link to all the vacation pix. A few are out of order.

We stated on Skyline drive, then went to Natural Bridge, VA. From there we stopped at a Tennessee state park, then onto Gatlinburg, TN for some hiking in the Smoky Mountains. After 3 days there we packed up and went through Bryson City, NC and hiked the NC side of the Smokey Mountains retuning to where we heard the big Cat snarl at us a few years back. This time it was uneventful. We Stayed in North Carolina for the night before making our way to Johnson City, TN for the night. We left there and slowly made our way to the Pisgah National Forest in Tenn for some hiking and camping grounds scouting for the future. We then hightailed it home for some time with our kitties and a good night sleep in our own home.

So without any further delay here are the pix, there are almost 300 of them.

Y5W12 Day 2-4

So things got interesting in Gatlinburg. We had some great weather and enjoyed each day to the fullest. Yesterday we hiked between 8 and 9 miles in 4 hours and 45 minutes. We struggled to the top of a mountain looking for an orchard that we did not find, but we did find an amazing waterfall and log with handrail to cross the falls. It was amazing. I tried something different and wore my work hiking boots and was able to hike longer, much longer. I still did get ankle pain eventually, but I was much better off with the other boots.

we left Gatlinburg and headed to Bryson City, NC. We went there to hike the trail we did last time where the mountain lion snarled. We retraced our steps down to the lake and enjoyed a picnic. The camping are changed and the picnic tables were gone so we sat shore side at the lake. It was tough hiking but worth doing again. We were better prepared for animal encounters with bear mace etc.

Gatlinburg experienced a bad storm that blew through and it took out the cell tower that supplied all the internet service so there was no posting going on. Tomorrow is going to be neat 32 degrees so we may not be doing the hiking we are hoping to do , we will know in the morning.
