So. These engineers. And a series of curse words in there. Yep. So I get into work and the ONE problem child engineer sent an email he needs us to VERIFY every Offsite network connection for his latest project because THEY are having issues with connectivity. Well he does not get in until 9:30 or 10:00 AM. I make the call to drive out there at 7:45 am so I can beat traffic and work on 3 other requests I had planned on going out there for next Tuesday. I get out there ans start my other work and get an update for the knucklehead, the copper connection is not working. SO I check it out and it is showing link light. I relay the information. SO now there is a problem with a fiber connection. Well that is an easy one. You asked for port 22 to be used based on the section on the form where you told me to use port 22, but in the description section you said to use port 23. Why did I not ask for clarification? Because I was connection 4 cables and it made no logical sense to used 19,20,21 and 23 skipping port 22. Plus where you tell me which port to connect to, you wrote 22. easy fix you change the configuration to the port you told me to connect to on the form! Now there is a different problem. I ask a question and make a suggestion for a trouble shooting solution to eliminate one possible cause. I don’t hear back from you for 30 minutes? 45 minutes? I write back to say, hey I am almost done out here, I DO you want me to try it or what? Still no answer, so I finish and pack up and go. Later I see you wrote back to try it. Yeah Buddy, that is going to be a Monday project. maybe next time you bring a million dollar piece of equipment on line you “go the extra mile” and actually go to the site ( that you just expect me to drive to to identify your problems!) and work on the equipment locally. Folks are lucky they are not working for me, there would be some serious ass chewings and maybe some firing. These jobs and tasks are not hard. STOP making them hard. I know my stuff, Each time you try to blame “the cabling” we show it is a networking problem. You would think you would get tired of looking bad and wrong. Ah much better. Rant over. And yes, I really do enjoy my job.

So work was at a stand still again since the engineers cant answer a few simple questions about their equipment. Simple stuff, this should not be so hard. That is OK, eventually someone in management is going to freak on them and ask why it is not done, and guess what, they can try to blame it on us, but you know what, if you cant tell me if it goes to slot 1 port one or On Board Port 1 you need to get yelled at. After all you are the one that is configuring the ports!

I think I am back! I did not need to get up and poop all night! great. I also felt more normal all day too. I did poop more and with less amounts, so food is passing through me quicker than normal, but I feel good.

I am feeling better than yesterday, but my stomach is still not right. I did need to get up 2 times last night to poop again, but I was not cramped up and uncomfortable, I just needed to go. I have been pooping more loose stuff all day, but it has not hit me with a feeling like if I did not get to a bathroom in minutes I would be in trouble so that is a good thing. Maybe tonight I will not need to go at all? I hope so.

Y5W30 Day 1

Last night was a rough one. I woke up with the trots, the Hershey squirts, the plop plop wiz wiz, the runs, I got a touch of food poisoning. I pooped my brains out at 1am and went back to bed, only to have to get up 5 minutes later and do it all over again. I went to bed and was up again until I was empty, nothing but clear liquids! This was as bad as when I needed to get scoped and needed to do a 24 hour “cleanse”. After about 40 minutes I was able to lay back down but I never got completely comfortable, but I did doze off. When the alarm went off I had 2 thoughts, make that 3 thoughts, 1. go to the bathroom AGAIN! 2. skip the gym and sleep for another 1.5 hours, or 3. call in sick. I chose the bathroom again, then made it to the gym late and squeezed in a 30 min workout. I am still poop moose, but it is not as bad. I just have some runs.

Today was be an Adult homeowner day.

We did not go out and have fun hiking. We instead did yard work all day. As Grumpy cat would say, “It was Awful!”

So it seems like work is starting to come in more steady now. That is a good thing. Unfortunately that also means more trips to our Offsite location. Oh well, at least I enjoy my job.

On a side note, I was able to dazzle my parents with some knowledge that saved them a cost of having a repairman come out to “fix” the problem. Yep, this guy has some brains.

We met a new engineer today. He turned in 2 work requests, and they were wrong! I know, who ever would have guessed that as a possibility? I have high hopes for this one. he seemed very interested in doing it right, and wanted to see the equipment and evaluate it with us. That is a good sign. He took initiative to follow up with others about other aspects of the equipment and might become their best guy at work requests. That would be nice.

Work was quiet today. I was shocked. I was really expecting some conversations because of the offsite project. Maybe tomorrow? Who knows.

I felt OK with the increased lifting I did today, that was good. I am slowly on the mend.
