Y2W2 Day 5

Happy Friday!

Today being Friday, it is a day where I push myself in the morning workout to cover some distance while jogging.   I jogged 5.27 miles in 53 minutes.  I was trying to do 6 miles in under 60 minutes but I just could not keep the pace.  My first 3 miles were at a pace of 5.5 to 5.7 MPH  Which meant my last 3 miles were going to need to be near 9 minute miles and I just could not do it.  I would jog ay 6.1 mph then crank it up to 6.7 mph  then back down.  I did get darn close to making it but I pushed too hard and gassed out.  What I need to do is start faster so I don’t need to push so hard later.  Had I started at 5.7 to 5.9 mph I would have only needed to make up a little over a minute instead of close to 3 minutes.  No matter what it was a good workout.

My day was mello and though I fought hard not to take a nap I needed one.  My knees and ankles were sore from the jogging.  I had fallen asleep on the couch and when I woke my knees were really sore so I layed down to take the pressure off them.  I also took 3 advil.  I got up about an hour later and felt much better but still took it easy at thegym for my PM workout.  I should have weight lifted this afternoon but I wanted to save the muscle stress until tomorrow afternoon since my wife and I will be going on a hiking adventure.  She wants to do a long multi hour hike so I want my legs to be fresh.  I would have spent 15 or 20 minutes doing leg presses and leg extensions this afternoon and that would have impacted my ability to keep up with my wife tomorrow.

I was lazy tonight and did not feel like cooking.  So I picked up some kabobs.  I picked up one each of chicken, lamb and ground beef kabob.  We split the meat and each had rice and chick peas to go with our kabobs.
