AM:
21.5 min jog
40 min elliptical machine

PM:
3 hour bike ride!

Today was a great day. It was fairly warm, mid 50’s. I needed to have my truck inspected and there is a bike trail a block away from the shop…
I decided to embrace the warm weather and go for a ride. I have done 30 miles before on the Mount Vernon Trail and know I can do it. I usually work up to distances over 15 to 18 miles since my body is not used to it, but I said “let me throw caution to the wind and ride the ride I have done before!” Billy would be proud!
I set out and did well on my way to Mount Vernon. Once there I had a banana and special k bar for lunch. I did not rest for long. There were some white puffy clouds coming in and they were blocking the sun that was making the 50 degree weather feel warm. As I got up from the picnic table I realized my legs were feeling wobbly. I guess 15 miles would have been a good starting distance for today’s ride. At this point I have no choice but to ride back. My wife is at work and my truck is in the shop. Off I go. The good thing is the trail now has more down hills that the trip here. It was brutal but doable. I tried to stand up for more power on some of the gradual uphill sections but could not do it. My legs were jello. I do not ever remember that happening before. after 3 hours and 30 miles I made it back to the shop and picked up my truck. I was happy I did not have to pedal up the big hill to get to my house! It is hours later and I finally had to take some Advil since my muscles and joints are sore. Good for me.

Food tonight was outstanding!  I baked some boneless and skinless chicken thighs.  I took some cashews and chopped them up fine and sprinkled them over the chicken that was tightly packed in my oven pan.   I sprinkled some salt, pepper and sugar  on top and baked for about 45 minutes.  The chicken was then chopped up and topped an Asian inspired salad of lettuce, red pepper and mandarin oranges.
