I feel pretty good about today. I had to do some heavy lifting at work and I did it. I feel like I had a good workout on the clock. My truck search has stalled. No new listings so I am in limbo right now. I will obsessively check multiple times a day and eventually find one, but it is disappointing I let a good one slip away.

2 hour hike at Billy Goat trail B along the Potomac river and C&O Canal.

It was a good day filled with fun. I did OK today, no falling in the mud as has become common for me to do. The weather warmed up into the 50’s so it was pleasant to be out as much as it was great to get out of the house. Days like this are great.

So I tried to buy my suburban today. It did not go well. The private seller sold his first thing. He told me the guy was coming so I knew that was a likely outcome. I had planned to go to the dealership first anyway since they were 500 cheaper for about the same vehicle. I got to the dealership a little over an hour after they open and parked in the lot near the Suburban. I walking in and the place was not impressive. It had a lack of professionalism in the finish of the dealership and I could see right into the repair bays from the sales floor. Anyway I was there to see the suburban. I spoke with a salesman, he arranged to have it brought around and suggested I move my vehicle to the front of this business. As I am parking my car he comes out to great me and informs me one of the other sales associates had already taken a 500.00 deposit down on it. Bummer. So I then drove around Manassas and Fairfax County looking on used car lots. No luck, they were either too new, too expensive, or too beat up with a cracked windshield. Today was not my day. Next time I see a good one I will need to go that day, after work and check it out.

Today was a winner of a day. I had the pleasure of trying to correct an engineer’s misunderstanding of a situation. He was all like he no problem we think this is right so just do it this way. But I am like, well ALL THE OTHERS WERE NOT DONE LIKE THIS AND IT WILL TAKE HOURS TO REDO IT RIGHT LATER, SO LETS GET IT RIGHT NOW! Sometimes smart people are the stupidest of them all. Especially when they want to display their knowledge and wow you with buzz words that have no impact on actually accomplishing what you are trying to do.

I woke us with some soreness in my back so I skipped weights today and only did cardio. I am 7 pounds lighter than I was on Monday. I have gone back to tracking calories. I now think if I really want to “eat that” or if I should only eat “one of that”. I am sure I will plateau soon but I am loving it right now.

What a day. I woke up 45 minutes early and was just up. Instead of being upset, I just got up and went to the gym early. That allowed my to get in 1.5 hours at the gym rather than my normal 45-50 minutes. I still did a good afternoon workout also. Today rocked!

Today was work as usual. Nothing crazy happened and the day passed just fine. I have a lead for a suburban this weekend. Hopefully it will still be there on Saturday. The price is OK and they agreed to let me have it checked out. Who knows there may be another truck in the driveway this weekend.

Today I started on the upper and lower body elliptical machine doing 20 second sprints followed by 40 second rests for the first 10 minutes before switching over to the lower body elliptical machine for the rest of my time. I did OK with my eating today. I consumed 2543 calories. I need to dial it back in some more but I did not snack at work and I was fairly good at home as well. In another week or so I will be in the groove again.

Y4W52 Day 7

Today ends the 4th year of this blog. This has been a great place to share ramblings, pictures, successes and failures. I am looking forward to tomorrow and starting the grind for a new year!

I skewed the distance and speed of the hike by forgetting to turn it off between the drive between parking lots. We were still out there hiking for a good 1.5 hours but the distance was less. We will be coming back here for sure.

Y4W52 Day 6

2.5 hour hike/walk in Fredricksburg VA

Today we headed down to Fredricksburg VA to see a used Ford Excursion and a used Chevy Suburban. Chevy was the clear winner but they wanted too much for it. While down that way we went for a great hike.walk along the river, following the bike path that latter followed the canal before returning us into town. we walked for 2.5 hours and around 6 miles. 5 minutes into the trip I wanted to get close to the river. On the walk down I slipped in the mud. I fell and rolled some. Normally I would curse or be mad, but all I was able to do was laugh. I was OK, and I had on 2 pairs of sweat pants so I was still warm and dry. As you can see in the one picture taken 45 minutes later, I was still a bit muddy. Sometimes you really need a good laugh, even at your own expense.
