Week 47 Day 4

AM:
11 min jog
4 min walk at 3.5 mph
15 min alternating 1 min jog then 1 min walk
30 min elliptical machine

PM:
59 min weights
5 sets Bench press
4 sets assisted pull-ups
4 sets squats
4 sets of cable flies
3 sets of concentration curls

It felt good being able to do a regular weight lifting routine. I still feel a little sick but I am really close to normal now. My strength was normal but my breathing was off. I was a bit slow between sets and exercises, but I got through a full workout. A couple more days and I will be back on track.

Week 47 Day 3

Today I tried something new.  Well actually something old.

I wore a heart rate monitor as I did cardio today.  I was surprised with what I saw.  My heart rate was in the low 140’s as I jogged on the treadmill.  That is normal for me.  I then went onto the elliptical stepper and was surprised to see my heart rate was only 117 to 120.  It was even lower when I was using it as a stepper machine.  It dropped to 108 beats per minute.  That is too low.  I guess this reinforces that I need to jog more.     In the afternoon I wore it again and used the lower body elliptical machine.  Again my heart rate was only in the 110-120 range.I guess it is good I saw this.  My perceived effort was higher than my actual work effort.   Bummer.

Dinner today was healthy again.  It feels good to be back into the swing of things.  I made a stir fry.  I steamed some broccoli and added it to a beef, mushroom and pepper combination.  I added mandarin oranges as well.

Week 47 Day 2

Back in the gym!

So today it was back to the routine. I got up and went to the gym. I jogged 2 miles and got on the elliptical machine for 40 minutes. I broke a sweat and felt pretty good. I went about my day and did NOT take a nap. That was surprising.

It was time for my afternoon workout and I head to the gym again. I did some easy lifting for a while then did 20 minutes of cardio as a bonus. For the weights I did assisted weight pull ups, incline bench presses and leg presses. My back has been sore and I am still feeling a bit weak from the cold/flu/ebola that has been kicking my ass. I expect it will take another week to feel normal again. I look forward to it.

My meals have been brutal the last few days combined with no working out. Tonight I made a stir fry with shrimp and ramen noodles to help balance things out. It was good!

Week 47 Day 1

Travel Day.

So today we travel back home.  The trip was uneventful and the traffic flowed.  I skipped the gym this afternoon.  I could have made it if I really tried, but I did not feel like it.  I fell asleep on the couch for a while and just did not feel like struggling to get out the door and to the gym.  Tomorrow is back to the grind.

We saw a really funny thing once we got home today.  There was someone in front of our house at the curl’s edge using a metal detector at the 1 food wide patch of dirt that runs along the sidewalk and street.  He actually dug something up.  We laughed our asses off watching dude go to town.  Not sure if is he a neighbor from down the street or a family member visiting but it was funny to see.  I got a picture of him as he started “treasure hunting” in front of our neighbor’s house.

Week 46 Day 6

Christmas EVE!

Today is a off day spent with family.  Dieting is off the menu and so is my normal routine of exercising.   Today we went for a 1 hour hike on a rail trail in the 34 degree weather.   Spinach Lasagna was consumed in large quantities.

Merry Christmas everyone!  See the goodness in the day and the season.  Look past your problems, no matter how large or small and find something to be grateful for,  Family, Friends, Pets, whatever, just see the good in things.  Life is good!

I feel much better but I am still sick.  I took it easy again today working out.

20 min walk at 10 % incline
15 min elliptical machine

week 46 Day 4

Still SICK!

I am still sick but not as bad as yesterday. I don’t feel like I am dieing. My stomach is still very upset but I am not in the bathroom every 30 minutes. I decided to take it easy in the morning at the gym so I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine at lighter levels than what I have been doing and followed that up with 20 minutes on the bike. My afternoon workout was also an easy one. I walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill at 10% incline between 3.0 and 3.7 MPH. I then jogged a 12 minute mile on the treadmill whit it set level. Not bad. I did sweat some.

I hope to be back to normal tomorrow, or at least much better than I was today.

Week 46 Day 2

A sick day!

Well today was another day of feeling sick.  I still have the cold/flu/Ebola virus.   I had slept in some but was restless through the night and did not rest well.  I hit the gym with some energy and jogged 30 minutes then did the elliptical machine for 30 minutes.  I had a great sweat going.

So I conquer the daily tasks of Christmas shopping and start to do some cleaning when my feeling ill kicks into overdrive.   No problem I decide to take a nap and our kitty joined me for the siesta.  I get up and still don’t feel good.  I clean for bit and rest for a bit.  Before I know it it is late afternoon and our house guest will be here any minute.  I had to finish cleaning while the guest was here.

In the end I can’t go to the gym to exercise in the PM.  My gut hurts and I feel like I might need to puke.  Bummer.

Dinner rolls around and I make red beans and rice and chicken fajitas.  This might not have been a good choice, but it was what was for dinner.  It was good!

I hope to get some sleep tonight.  I am feeling bad and think I am going to be suffering.  I hope tomorrow will be a new day and me feeling like I should.
