Week 44 Day 5

A good Day!

AM:

33 min jog
27 min walking at 10 % incline 3.5 mph

PM:
Dumbbell aerobics using 25 lb dumbbells
8 sets of:
15 push-ups
10 body weight squats
10 dumbbell overhead presses
10 dumbbell dead lifts
10 alternating arm curls (each arm)
10 sit-ups

then 20 min on the bike for additional cardio once the aerobics was complete.

What made today so great was that I have 2 job interveiws set up for next week. Either job would be good for me. I hope both work out and I have to choose which one I want. That would be best.

Week 44 Day 4

Blah Day.

AM:

21 min jog
40 min elliptical machine

PM:

30 min elliptical machine
30 min bike

Today was just an average day. No word on the possible job. I was hoping to hear something but nope not today. Oh well. Food was good today, my workouts were good and so were the TV shows… Hardcore Pawn, Death Valley and American Guns. They are each entertaining in their own way, one is a slice of life living on hard times, one deals with fun and high dollar toys, and one is a complete fantasy world. You pick which is which. Week 44 Day 3

A JOB LEAD!

Today was a rainy day.  A really rainy day.  Our basement too on water as the drain was clogged in the basement.  I sloshed through it and cleared the drain, then off to the gym.

AM:
22 min jog
20 min elliptical machine
20 min stair stepper

PM:
Weights!
5 sets Dumbbell bench press
3 sets DB incline bench press
5 sets leg presses
3 sets DB overhead presses
4 sets cable flies
4 sets ez-bar curls

I felt really good doing the dumbbell exercises today. I worked out up to 80 pound dumbbells for the bench press and really felt my stabilizer muscles working. Today was a great day except for the rain.

Dinner was good too. I cooked up some chicken thighs and added 2 bags of frozen stir fry veggies. It rocked!
I hope to have some more news to report on the job lead some time tomorrow.

Week 44 Day 2

Home, home on the range….

Today started out with the alarm waking me.  I set it so I could get to the gym early.  I got there and the lights were out.  They were open but no power.  COOL!  I don’t have to jog on the treadmill! (It needs power to work).  I opted for the elliptical stepper and did 60 minutes (these type machines are powered from their users)

After that I took care of a few things, showered, ate and got my gear ready.  Last week I invited a neighbor to join me at the target shooting range and he was interested, so today was the day.  I brought two revolvers with us,  a 9 shot Taurus .22lr  and a 7 shot Taurus Tracker in .357 magnum.  We started out light with the .22 then moved up to .38 specials in the Tracker to full load .357 magnum loads.  It was a great day of shooting.  My neighbor is a pretty good shot (he did great as a first timer with handguns).  It was unfortunate but the fun ended early with the Tracker, a spring broke in the revolver and needed to be turned in form repair. My neighbor was so worried he “broke” my revolver and was concerned about wanting to pay for repairs (he is good like that), but it is not necessary since Taurus offers a lifetime warranty on their products.  We were able to continue on with the .22lr for a some more time.  We shot about 280 rounds combined with both revolvers. FUN!

So afterwards it was some lunch, some TV and time for me to clean the .22.  I set up in front of the TV and it was clean before the show ended.   With that out of the way it was back to the gym for more cardio.

11 min mile on treadmill (my knees were sore! I should have done this first)

For dinner tonight I really wanted corndogs. Crazy I know. I can’t remember the last time I wanted or had corndogs. Here is the twist…I made them myself. I bought a box of cornbread mix and some Hebrew national 97% fat free hotdogs (only 50 calories each!) and some small disposable baking pans. I mixed up the batter, poured some in the tiny pans, added hotdogs then covered them with the remaining mix. I baked them for 20 minutes and they were good to go and boy were they tasty. I also made a super salad, lettuce, tomato, grapes, apples and walnuts. My backup plan was to add chicken if the corndogs did not turn out right. No problems though, dinner was a hit!

Week 44 Day 1

Monday!  and I got nothing accomplished!  Well I did go to the gym twice today so it was not all bad.

AM:

30 min on the treadmill.   I jogged a mile, walked 4 minutes then did some intervals of a minute fast run and a minute walking.
30 min elliptical machine

PM:
weights
6 sets bench press
4 sets leg press
5 sets dumbbell overhead press
3 sets alternate arm curls (standing)
3 sets ez-bar curls

Not to bad of a day after all. I feel good, I worked my muscles and I am ready for what ever tomorrow brings.

Week 43 Day 7

Today was another mellow weekend day.  The weather was fairly nice but my wife has been feeling sick and we did not make it out exploring any trails in the hopes she will feel better tomorrow.

AM:

20 min stair stepper

PM:

I took it easy in the afternoon since I needed to go shopping for groceries for dinner.  I think 40 minutes was enough for me to get something out of it and I was sweating!   This was not the weekend we hoped to have but it was the weekend of relaxing on the couch watching some funny TV shows.  Sometimes there is nothing wrong with that!

Dinner tonight was rotisserie chicken with sweet potato fries and corn.  Maybe not the healthiest of choices, but it was tasty.

Week 43 Day 6

What a beautiful Saturday!

So it was off to the gym this morning.  I was slow going and did not leave until after 9am.  I weighed myself and I am still 6 pounds heavy.  Not a big deal I am working on it.  I had a really surprizing jog at the gym  I did 3 miles and they felt easy and good.  I was surprized since I have not been doing more than two miles lately.  I then got on the elliptical machine and did 30 more minutes of cardio.

In the afternoon I did some more time on the elliptical machine.  I did 48 minutes and enjoyed the time.   I got home, showered and made a great dinner.  It was mushrooms, steak, garlic and pepper

It was a pretty good day. I got up early, went out some today but in the end I did eat more than I should have. I am looking forward to spending tomorrow with my wife!

Week 43 Day 4

A short one today.

AM:

50 min stair stepper machine

I feel ok today. I did eat too much but there was a lot of veggies today so tomorrow morning will be interesting. My workouts today were slightly off from yesterday’s leg presses. I was stiff. It was good though, my muscles were worked!

Week 43 Day 3

Another pound in the right direction.

AM:
10 min jog
50 min elliptical machine

PM:
Weight lifting
8 sets of Incline bench press
5 sets of leg presses
4 sets of ez-bar curls
3 sets of dead lifts

I was heavy on eating today. I went wrong with my “snack” of wheat crackers. I at 3 servings instead of one. That was an extra 280 calories. It also looks like I need to lay off the peanut butter for a while. I have been over doing it with the jar and have been paying for it with calories, fat and gas!

Dinner tonight was good. We had some left over chicken breast, so I combined it with tortellini, lots of asparagus, garlic cloves, red pepper, tomatoes, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese and smart balance butter.

This meal was hearty and loaded with veggies.  It also made my pee smell like asparagus!
