Today was great because I was very busy at work. Very busy. I think I only had about 30 minutes at my desk today. It was all go, go , go ! I am excited thinking about tomorrow! 65+ miles to ride home from Harper’s Ferry!

Dinner tonight was apowerhouse of salmon, mashed sweet potato and steamed spinach.

Y2W32 Day 4

Run Day!

So we run the same routes and sometimes go in one direction and sometimes go in the opposite direction on the same route.  The GPS sometimes shows as much as a .13 mile difference though we are going the same exact way.  On the plus side knowing we are going the same was we can watch the time and know if we were actually faster or not.  This morning is a great example.  The time was 1 hour 5 minutes and last time was 1 hour and 7 minutes.  We were faster today.  The mileage today said 5.65 miles and last time it was 5.78.  We ran the same route though so that is weird.

Last night was a horrible night of sleep. I finally fell asleep some time after 11:00 PM and then I had to get up and pee 3 times last night. I woke up before the alarm at 3:30 AM and just got up. I pulled less that 4.5 hours of sleep. That sucked. I am tired now though and am heading to bed so hopefully tonight will be a good night of sleep for me.

Today was a good day at work. The work flow has picked up and we are getting really busy. Busy means more activity for me and less sitting at my desk.

Dinner tonight was a ground chicken cooked with chick peas, served with cous cous over a bed of spinach. Dinner rocked! Tomorrow is a run day and I am hoping to be quick like a bunny.

Those are sliced grapes on the cous cous.

Y2W32 Day 2

AM:

It was cold this morning! In the 50’s kind of cold. I actually wore sweat pants this AM. It was a good run for us and we both were glad to get it in. I was slacking this weekend and my wife was on vacation all week so she was not jogging like she should have been. We were both happy we did as well as we did. As a great bonus the sky was clear and filled with stars and we saw a fox run across a side street. It stopped in the middle of the road, turned in our direction then took off on its merry way. It is hard to top something like that.

For the afternoon workout I did 30 minutes on my exercise bike. I am still hoping to be doing my epic ride this weekend if the weather allows. I am trying to keep in the zone.

Dinner was a fun one this night. I cooked up some Apple flavored chicken sausages with onions and peppers. It is a quick, simple, easy meal that tastes great. Try it some time.

Y2W32 Day 1

AM:
4 sets of assisted pull-ups
45 min elliptical machine

18 min bike to work

PM:
18 min bike ride home

30 min exercise bike

Today was an OK day. Work was OK, the weather was great and I got to enjoy a nice bike ride to and from work. It is funny but I don’t even notice I am missing a toe nail. It did not bother me at all today. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather this weekend! I plan to do my long bike ride, I am ready.

Dinner was Filet Mignon with onion, mushroom and garlic cloves served with a salad. It was just what I wanted! It pays to be the cook!

Y2W31 Day 7

An easy day today full of rest and relaxation.

 

AM:

That was it for the day.  I did some grocery shopping and the rest of the time was spent on the couch watching TV.  The best part of the day…my wife came home earlier than expected from vacation and we got to hang out.  Very nice.

Y2W31 Day 6

I slept in!

 

AM:

50 minute hike through Donaldson Run.

I enjoyed the walk and even saw a deer!

That was the highlight of my day.  And for the lowlight of my day I had this happen!

My toenail fell off.  Not completely, I did need to give it a little tug, but it was pointing upward in an unnatural way and I knew everything I did was going to cause it to pull and bend funny so I gave it a gentle tug and it fell right off.  Weird!  This made me think of the movie “The Fly” with Jeff Goldblum when he was changing and his nails came off.  Honestly it was not gross and gooey like that.

So that was my day.  deer and toes nails.  You can quot me on that!

 

I almost forgot!  I did 30 minutes on the exercise bike in my living room as my PM workout.   We had a bad storm in the area with a possible tornado touching down in Bailey’s Crossroads a couple miles away.  We had 59 MPH winds and heavy rains.  The power flickered and we lost TV and internet multiple times tonight.  I was happy to have a standard antenna on the roof and my cell phone so I could still surf the net.  What did people do 100 years ago when it stormed like this?  Oh yeah they read by candle light like they aways did.

Y2W31 Day 5

AM:
22 min weight lifting leg press/bench press
30 min elliptical machine

I called in today to give me some time to take care of a few things. It is rough since I have no paid time off but I really needed a day. I took care of a few things and then went on a 30 minute bike ride through the neighborhood. I took it easy since it was 88 degrees and high humidity.

I did not feel like going to the gym in the afternoon but knew my bike ride was not enough activity so I brought my exercise bike into the house and pedalled for 30 minutes while I watched TV. The time flew by and I got the extra activity I needed.

For dinner I went with Middle eastern. I really wanted chicken haleem but they did not have it. I had a vegitarian platter instead. It was chick peas, spinach and yellow lentils with rice. It was good, but it was no chicken haleem. I will have to go back on Sunday for lunch so I can have some.

I did get some extra rest today and I hope I will feel great tomorrow. The weather is calling for rain so I might need to do some indoor activities like going to the range. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Y2W31 Day 4

I had a good long jog this morning!

I was not fast today but it was 80 degrees this AM with 75% humidity. Needless to say I swetted a lot! I made it through the work day and then I hit the gym again and did 33 minutes on the exercise bike. Nothing overly demanding but it was something to do.

Tonight for dinner I finished the left over filet Mignon over salad. It was still really good! Tomorrow will be a wild card dinner since I have finished all the food in the house. I might need to go for some middle eastern food or Greek gyros. It is hard to believe the weekend is almost here already. I might need to be crazy an ride my bike back from west Virginia. We’ll see how the weather is going to be.

Y2W31 Day 3

Since I gained a few pounds I decided it was time to change things up again and I will be giving up my weight lifting in the mornings and go back to cardio all mornings with weight lifting on some afternoons.  Since I am focusing on a 10 mile run this also seems like the right thing to do, more cardio, less weights.

AM:
30 min stair stepper
25 min elliptical machine

PM:
40 min elliptical machine

10 min weights
4 sets machine incline press
4 sets machine shoulder press

Tomorrow is a run day for me. I plan to get up extra early so I can cover longer distances if I feel up to it.

I had a great dinner tonight. I cooked some Filet Mignon with onion and hot peppers and served it over a bowl of lettuce. I have drifted away from eating salads as dinners and I am going back to that. I really enjoyed it!
