Y2W31 Day 2

Run Day!

This morning we went out for a jog.  We did 4.72 miles which was less than what we should have done, but it was still plenty for us.  Today was a Monday for all intents and purposes.  I don’t run Mondays since I need to get my body back into the groove from the weekend and this weekend I was off again.

PM:
35 lb dumbbell workout
6 sets of 10 shoulder press starting from the shoulder
4 sets of deadlifts
4 sets of body weight squats

I felt like I worked out after this routine. It was not a great workout but I did feel the burn after a while so it was not a bad one either. I am feeling really bead and am looking forward to a good night of sleep. I hope that happens for me.

Y2W31 Day 1

Travel day!

Today we journeyed back home form NJ.  Not much activity other than a 41 minute walk after dinner.  Tomorrow is back to the grind for me and my wife is off on her 4th vacation!  I am jealous!

Y2W30 Day 7

We went for a hike!

We wanted to go up to Crater lake and the Blue Mountain lakes but the road is closed!  It has been closed for a year!  Since Hurricane Irene.   We were sad to see that.   We did stop at a different spot and got our hike on.   It was OK and we scouted two trails that we will come back to next time.

As we hiked along this trail we came across what we thought was a foundation to a building.  Once we checked it out closer it actually looked like it might have been a well.

While hiking we saw so many chipmunks!  They were everywhere we looked.

Today was a great day.  Even the peacock had a good time hanging out on my truck.

What a day.

Y2W30 Day 6

Travel day!

We got up early and went for a 2.25 mile job before heading out.  We averaged 11 minute miles which was great.  I did not eat well today and expect to be paying for it the rest of the night and tomorrow.  We had White Castle for lunch, eggplant Parmesan as a snack at my folks house the hotdogs, sauerkraut and backed beans for dinner.  This house will be rocking!

I was not feeling in the zone today so I did lighter weights and less sets (but additional exercises) and got my time in. I haven’t had an off day lifting for a little while so I don’t feel bad about today. Also I had a great run day yesterday so that also made me feel ok about today not being a great lifting day.

This afternoon I hit the gym and did 20 minutes at levels 14-16 (out of 20) on the elliptical stepper machine. I was breathing hard and broke a sweat and I got out of there quickly. I nneded to do some chores and I still need to pack for NJ.

Cooking dinner was on my to do list. I cooked some chicken thighs with mushrooms and chick peas and seasoned it with tandori marsala spices. We added some potatoes to the dish as well and it was a big hit! It rocked! And it looked good to.

A little while back I posted about an incident that had scared my wife and I while jogging. Since that morning I have given up jogging with my 6.6 ounce .32acp and switched over to my 27 ounce .45 acp. I gave up the comfortableness of the light pistol for the comforting of the larger heavier pistol. Problem is my holster is great for walking or hiking but not great for running. I have managed to get rubbed raw on my leg from jogging with it multiple times and I have bruised my side as well.

As bad as it might look I have not had any discomfort on my leg or side, until this last jog. My side is not sore even with the small light pistol as it presses right on the bruises. I ordered and received a new holster so I can now carry my 9mm which weights 12 ounces. This is considerably lighter than the .45 acp but is still a powerful enough pistol to provide some comfort while jogging. I will try it out tomorrow on a short jog but will have to wear it on my opposite side so as to not irritate my existing sore spots. This will be a good test to see if this holster will cause any issues since I have not worn a holster for cross draw yet. I am sure I will eventually go back to carrying the light .32 acp but it will take me a while to get back to that level of feeling safe and secure while out running.

Y2W30 Day 3

So today should have been a weight lifting day.  It turned out not to be.  I woke up feeling a bit stiff and sore so I changed it up and did the elliptical machine for 60 minutes.  I felt good all day until I got home and ended up not hitting the gym.  I feel really tired and will be going to bed soon so I guess my body was letting me know to take it easy.  Tomorrow is a run day so there will not be any bullshitting around tomorrow’s workout!

Y2W30 Day 4

Run day!  Hooray, we were faster today!

We did good our average was better this time out. We were both feeling pretty good.

In the afternoon I pedaled my bike around a little bit. It was not a killer workout, it was more just an activity instead of chilling at home. I could have gone to the gym but I needed to run an errand and the bike made that easier to do.

On an unrelated topic, while I was cooking dinner I saw a super wasp climbing on the screen of the window in the kitchen. The thing had a stinger like I never saw before. This thing was huge and looked mean. I am glad I was able to get a picture though I do not think it came out as clearly as I would have liked. Check this thing out!

Y2W30 Day 2

Run day!

It felt good to share a run with my wife. While out there we saw some bunnies and 2 foxes out running too. There were a treat to see. And a funny thing happened, we realized we have not seen any skunks. That is weird. I would expect to see some but we never have. We have seen possums and raccoons before and plenty of cats but never a skunk. I guess we are doomed the next time we go out. I bet we get sprayed now.

My afternoon workout was 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. That was plenty. I am still feeling sore from the run. I hope to be in bed soon and sleeping so I have a chance to get some much needed rest. This weekend will be a busy one so I need to get some rest in if I can.

This was a good workout. I felt it for sure. I did not workout in the afternoon because I had some errands to run and I am glad i was able to get things taken care of. Tomorrow is a run day and it will be the first real jog my wife has done in over a week!

Y2W29 Day 7

What a day!

So today I got up early and went for a jog.  I did 5.75 miles all before 7am!


After breakfast and my sleepy wife got up we planned a bike ride for the day.  We went out for a 16 mile ride and saw some nature.  What a day.

And as an added bonus, one of Daisy!
