Today was not the day we planned. I wanted to ride my bike back from West Virginia and my wife wanted us to spend the day together since she has been gone on vacation for the last 7 days with family. I can’t fault her for wanting to spend time together but I was disappointed I can’t do a weekend day adventure myself since I still have not had a vacation yet and she has had a few without me. She does not feel ready to hop on a bike and ride 60+ miles otherwise she could do it with me. She can do it but she does not have the faith in her abilities the way I believe I can do things and the way I believe she can do things. So no bike ride for me today. I guess it worked out though. We were under threat of rain all day and it did rain a few times today. Our big adventure for the day was walking to a new fish and chips bar for lunch. It was nothing fancy, the french fries and canned sodas were pretty good and the fish, well it was greasy from the deep fat frying. We were not impressed. That’s OK though we at least left the house today. My honey bunny was feeling ill most of the day and was falling asleep on me as we watched TV. I did get to go to the gym twice today and with some luck (and my alarm) I will be getting up early and going for a jog tomorrow. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same weather-wise so I may not get to do much otherwise.

Work was brutal today. I got really sore sitting in my chair working on my PC. I even took 3 advil and that did not help. Fortunately I needed to work in the Data Center for a while and that got me moving around.

My wife is home! WooHoo! I cooked some chicken things and pierogies for dinner. It was yummy! I sliced some yellow tomato to go with it.

Y2W29 Day 4

What a run today!

It felt good too. I wish I had more distance to cover this AM. I think I could have done another mile for sure.

I felt so good about the run that I decided to pedal into work today. My leg muscles were worked hard today! I made it all OK though.

After work I pedaled to go get a haircut. Today was a tough day at the barber. He told me to close my eyes. He then trimmed my eyebrows. It is official. I am old! Only old people trim their eyebrows. I at least had tripped my nose hairs myself the day before.

I felt really pumped up after this workout. There is always more I want to do but I don’t always want to push to soreness or failure because I still need to work through the day.

Tomorrow is another run day! I hope to do as well as I did on tuesday. I will be setting my alarn earlier than usual so I have a chance to get the extra time and mileage in.

Dinner tonight was a home run! I cooked filet mignon, shrimp and a spinach and greens mix. WOW! I made sure to pack half of what i cooked otherwise I would have gone back for a second plate, it was that good!

Y2W29 Day 2

Long jog!

AM:
1 hour 19 min 6.49 mile jog

It was pretty sweet. I did miss not having my wife with me for the jog but that was OK that allowed me to add distance without having to worry about getting home by a certain time. The other thing that was pretty good was my new holster for the Glock 30. The Glock 30 is a heavy. The other holster I have for it requires a belt and that is not good for jogging. This new one is a paddle style holster that clips over the waistband of pants no belt needed. The weight of the G was very noticeable but after a few miles it was   me, but I was aware it was there the whole time. That does not happen with the Kel-tec. I can clip that on and it disappears since it is so light. The Glock offers the best protection though and things have been a little bit crazy lately so I am willing to give up some comfort to have the added protection. I am sure eventually I will switch back to the lighter setup, but not yet!

I hope to be able to repeat the same distance on Thursday’s run.  That would rock if I can.  I did not work out in the afternoon since I was tired and wanted to get home.  That is OK though I did get in extra time jogging.

Tomorrow is going to be a run day. This will be the first time in a while that I will be running alone since Miriam is on vacation with Gary and Ruth’s family. I plan to take the new route for my run. I will also be trying out my new holster to see how jog-able my bigger pistol is. I did fine biking with it, I just don’t know how it will feel with it bouncing. If it does not work well I can always still were it biking, hiking and walking on trails.

Today was another normal day of work, not much to talk about. While there I found a story online about how the 7-11 that we ran to for safety just had an attempted armed robbery on Sunday night at 3:30 AM. I don’t know if it is the same two knuckleheads or not. If it is the same guys they are dummies and will get caught.

Y2W28 Day 7

I biked 31.26 miles today for cardio!

No to bad.  I felt pretty good.  I did get slightly saddle sore but not real bad.  I did this as a test to see if I thought I could handle the 60 plus miles of riding from Harper’s Ferry West Virginia back to DC  or even my home in Arlington.  I feel like I can do it!

Pretty cool!

I found out something else cool with my tracker software. I have exercised 186 hours and 42 minutes using this app on my phone. Between walking, hiking, biking and jogging I have covered 1,058.8 miles so far. There have been times I did not use the tracker either so that mileage number is low. That rocks!

Through a motorcycle group I belong to online there will be a chance to do a bike ride from Harper’s Ferry back to DC. I am excited about that. I have done it before and know I can do it again. Life is good!

This weekend I received a new holster so I can carry another one of my pistols jogging. I tried it out today on the bike ride and it was fine. The weight of the pistol is substantial compared to my two other carry pistols but it was perfectly comfortable on the ride. The real test is going to be this week when I actually jog with it. This is the largest of my pistols that I could conceal though it does not dissapear like my two very light ones. If it does not work out for jogging it will still be great for hiking and biking.

Today was an OK day. I did not do as much as I should have but I did run some errands and do some shopping. I got a holster today which will give me a better option for jogging outside in the mornings. I also picked up my one bike from the shop and might be giving it a big test tomorrow as my workout.

My work day was easy and I was at the gym before I knew it. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine and broke a sweat. I then settled in for the night to relax. Life is good!

Y2W28 Day 4

We jogged again!

60 min jogging 5.2 miles on a new route through neighborhoods.

35 min Bike ride to and from work.

Quiet day and a nice day. Our morning run brought us through a new neighborhood today and it was nice. we heard the screeching of a fox. My wife was startled and a bit scared from it, but it was only a fox. Much safer that last time.
