Y2W12 Day5

Happy Friday!  What a long week it was.

AM:
34 min jog with the wife
(I went back to bed for another 1 hour power nap!)

PM:
65 min Neighborhood walk with my wife

This week I really felt beat like a workhorse. I am going to look at upping my protein next week to see if that helps. I am also going to ease up on the carbs. Since I started at the new gym I need to tighten up and this will be an easy way for me to do that.

My wife made an amazing dinner for us after the walk.  She cooked some chicken breast, and also artichoke hearts, spinach and cherry tomatoes.  Boy was it good!  I did made some instant potatoes to go with the meal since we did not have a carb.

Y2W12 Day 4

NEW gym today for both workouts!

AM:
11 min jog
40 min elliptical machine

PM:
36 min weight lifting
4 sets Dumbbell bench press
4 sets bench press
4 sets assisted pull ups
5 sets Hack squats
4 sets EZ-Bar curls

I feel good about today. I enjoyed the ne wplace. Each piece of cardio equipment has its own TV screen mouned on it. That rocks! The weight area was busy this evening but I was still able to get in what I was trying to do.

On a sad note…I found out today an college mentor of mine is not doing well. My prayers are out to him and his family in this time of sadness.

I joined a new gym.
30 min elliptical stepper

I checked out a new gym and joined it. The weight area is spread out and the there are enough machines there for use. I was there at 5:30 to 6:30 and there were enough free machines to get my cardio in and the weight lifting area was not overly busy. I think this will be good for me. Something new.

Y2W12 Day 2

AM:

25 min weight lifting

So today I tried lifting at the gym. It is not going to work for me. The Zoomba group has taken over. The music is too loud. They are alienating some of the regulars that are there at the gym to lift. It is a shame. I wish them well. I will be looking into the other gym close by. I don’t like the parking that is available there but the facility looks larger. I will check it out and make my decision.

Y2W12 Day 1

Happy Monday!

I hit the gym first thing this morning and they were late opening up!  Once inside I saw why they were closed on sunday.  They reorganized things.  The crammed all the weight lifting stuff into 2/3 the space it was in and now have an open area for “classes”.  That is great if you want to do “classes”  but I don’t.  I like to lift and do cardio on machines.  I looked around and the equipment is fairly tight together now.  I don’t know how that is going to work out.  I only did cardio the both times I was in there today but I don’t think this is going to work for me.  They were playing the Zumba music really loud.  So loud that even with my headphones in and volume set to the highest it would go I still heard the Zumba music.  Looks like I am going to have to check out the other gym nearby.  It might be time for me to move on.  I do like it where I am at but the new layout just does not seem right.

Y2W11 Day 7

My gym was closed today.  I decided to go for a hike along the potomac river since it was not raining too hard.  The weather held fairly well for me.  I did get rained on but it never poured down on me.  I had the whole place to myself.  The only other thing on the trail was this snail!

I made it back to the truck and it started to rain much harder.  I headed home and then decided to go to the range to try out my new Kel-tec PF-9.  I guess many others had the same idea since it was raining.  There was at least an hour wait so I left.  I did want to target shoot, but I was not going to stand around for an hour just to do it.

Dinner was the highlight meal of the day.  I cooked chicken thighs in the pan and once they were almost done I chopped them up and added honey and musturd

Y2W11 Day 6

Had a great day!

I jogged a fast mile in the gym then did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I had a good sweat going.  I then spent the day at a gun show with my Brother in law where I bought another Kel-tec.  Afterwards we had some good food and watched some TV.  Funny thing both of us started falling asleep during the TV shows.  After 2 shows it was time for him to get going and time for me to go to the gym again for some lifting.   I had an epic lifting session.  I started with some bench presses and worked out up to 225lbs where I did single repitition sets 5 times.  I then did the seated shoulder press machine and finally standing curls.  I set a new record with the standing curls too.  I started with 45lb plates for a set of 6.  That is the most I have ever done!

Y2W11 Day 5

Today was an off feeling day.  I jogged 30 minutes with my wife in the AM then went back to bed for 45 minutes.  I felt OK most of the day and ate OK  but it went down hill after work.  I got my hair cut and that took close to an hour.  Once home I ate dinner and gave up on the idea of heading to the gym.  I then had a couple beers!  I hope after a good night’s rest I will be back in the groove tomorrow.

Y2W11 Day 4

Happy Thursday!

Boy was I not feeling 100 percent today.  I was stiff and sore so I did the elliptical machine in the gym for 50 minutes as my morning workout.  I hope to feel better tomorrow!  I rode my bike into work so I picked up some extra cardio and then my wife and I did a neighborhood walk for close to an hour.

Y2W11 Day 3

AM:

6 mile run (11 min mile average!)

Today the morning run was all I did.  I was feeling pretty tired  a lot of the day and really wanted to cook a specific dinner.  I got home from work with the possibility of doing a garage workout or dumbbell (NOT cowbell!) workout but once I got started  prepping dinner I lost all interest in additional exercise.   Here is what dinner looked like!

This meal had plenty of protein (chicken breast and cashews) and plenty of veggies (lettuce, carrot, pepper, mushroom and cabbage).  It made us feel good!
