Today was another average day. My workouts were good, the weather was nice and I enjoyed an afternoon nap. I was going to go to the range and do some target shooting but I had ordered an extra magazine for my new pistol so I want to wait for it to arrive before I go shooting so I can try it out.

Dinner was another great creation. I baked a whole chicken, roasted some asparagus and also baked some home made stuffing. It was a winner!

Tomorrow is filled with possibilities!

Year 2 Week 1 Day 1

Happy New Year!  Well it is the first day of year two on this website.  WOOHOO!

55 min weight lifting

Today was just another day. No ups, no downs, just a day. I had expectations that did not pan out. I ended up falling asleep on the couch. Not totally unexpected for me to do that, but it was funny as I woke up unexpectedly and thought, “wow, I fell asleep”.

Dinner tonight was steak fajitas with red beans and rice. I added avocado, sour cream and some shredded cheese to round out the meal.

Life is good!

Week 52 Day 7

Happy anniversary!  Or is it happy birthday?  or happy weight loss journey day?

Well it is had to believe, but today marks 1 year of my quest to lose weight and get healthy. What a year it has been. Wen I break down the year into two columns, the pluses and the minuses, I have way more pluses. Though I have not reached my goal of losing 100 lbs yet I am 90 pounds down. I am healthier, faster, stronger, happier, able to shop to at any clothing store now (not just big and tall), ably to keep up with my wife (mostly), basically better off in every way. And I did it my way, on my schedule, with my determination. Life is good!

There was no celebration for this annual accomplishment. There also is not an end in site for my quest to be better off with my weight management. I will continue to do as I have been doing and keeping track as I go. I hope others follow in my footsteps, or walk along beside me, or even pass me by with success on their own journeys. Every day is a chance to do better. Some days we all fall short of our goals. All that means is try again tomorrow, don’t give up and continue to work harder to get to where you want to be.

Today was great family fun day. There was some good meals shared, some Playstation3 games played, and some UFC watched. Fun all day.

Week 52 Day 5

Today the momentum has shifted.  I thought I would see another pound or so down.  It did not happen.  That is OK I had sweat out a few pounds today.  I jogged 5.5 miles in 60 minutes.  I feel pretty good about that.  

I had not been able to do it last week since I had a bad night of sleep.  I guess things were going my way this week since I did have a good night sleep.  Here is where I was out after jogging for an hour.

The rest of my day was pretty normal.  My afternoon workout was a decent one.  I worked out on the elliptical machine for 60 minutes.  It was a fair sweat and my leg muscles did feel worked.  I should have jogged a mile first to really get the sweat going.

I had a wild and crazy idea for dinner.  I decided to make a ground beef dish (it was supposed to be ground lamb but the store was sold out!)  I cooked some chopped cabbage, shredded carrot, baby spinach and red pepper together then set it aside.  I next browned the ground beef with onion and diced chick peas all mixed together.  I seasoned it with lots of garlic powder, cumin, paprika, chili power, black pepper, salt and chicken base.  I added some water to the frying pan and kept a lid on it to keep all the flavor in!  I then took some full cabbage leaves and set them on top of the ground beef mix and put the lid back on so the food would steam the cabbage leaves.  Then I took them out, added the veggie mix in with the meat mixed it all together and served the meet mix in the cabbage leaves as a wrap!  it was incredible!

With 2 days left I do not think I am going to make it to 254lbs.  I am going to still try hard and eat well  but I may miss my goal time again.  I WILL DO IT (eventually)!

Week 52 Day 4

Three more days…Is it possible?

So I weigh myself today and what do I see?   

But wait,  I was just 271.8 lbs on Monday?????  So eating right does the trick, AGAIN!   I cut my calories back to 2,000 to 2,100 calories.  I also cut out carbs with dinner.  No potatoes, rice, etc.  This rocks.

Dinner tonight was chicken thighs and broccoli. I sprinkled Parmesan cheese onto the broccoli and drizzled BBQ sauce onto the chicken. It was good!

I have been on a grapefruit kick all this week and have been eating them 2 at a time as snacks.  It is pretty weird how I have turned out.  As a kid you could not get me to eat vegetables or fruit like grapefruit.  Now I regularly enjoy veggies and all kinds of fruits.  My wife is to thank for a lot of it but my tastes have matured on their own as well.   I can’t wait to see what the scale says tomorrow!  This is the same excitement I had when I first started.

Week 52 Day 3

Another good day! another pound or so down.  Not to bad since I was 271.x two days ago.

I feel like my intensity has been up this week.  I think the internal drive to try and make weight by Sunday is pushing me to push harder during my workouts.  I really have tightened up my eating too.

Dinner was another salad.  This time it was topped with steak, mushrooms, peppers, asparagus, and pin wheel pasta.  

This was a heavier salad but very healthy.  I also enjoyed grapefruits and oranges today.  I really feel in the zone.  When I make it to my goal I have already figured out what I want the tee shirts to say.  Sorry, you are going to have to wait to see.

Week 52 Day 2

Today was filled with highs!

The Weather!   Temps in the 60’s!

Personal life… I picked up my CCW today!

Exercising zone…I leg pressed 810 lbs for 5 reps!   That is the most I have ever done in my whole life!  EVER!

 

AM:

PM:
66 minutes of weight lifting including a new lifetime max lift of 810 lb leg press 5 reps.

Each plate on there is 45 pounds.  That is a decent amount of weight to push.  No records are being set here but it was a personal best.

I also have dropped another couple pounds since yesterday.

It is amazing, I tighen up my diet and the pounds come off.  I am trying to make my 100 pounds by Sunday.  I got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but I work well under pressure.

Today I was pumped up and I think one exciting thing thing fueled the next exciting thing in a chain reaction of excitement.  I picked up my CCW licence today.  I can now carry concealed legally.  That rocks.  This had me pumped up.  I then went to the range to do some target shooting.  I rented a Glock 30 (.45 acp) and enjoyed shooting it.  I expected it to kick harder than it did.  I also picked out my next gift to myself,  a Kel-Tec P32.  I hope to get it in the next few days.  Long term plan is to add either a 9mm or .45acp to my collection, but it will take a few more trips and renting them to see which one I like better.

Week 52 Day 1

Here it is my last week in my first year!  I started the week poorly.  I had a big Chinese food pig out on Saturday and I ate  a big (but healthy) dinner yesterday.I started today heavy, way too heavy.

All was not lost, even after eating breakfast AND lunch I was lighter than this after my PM workout.

That is 1.4 pounds down in less than a day.

After seeing I was heavy this am I still enjoyed a big breakfast.  I had 4 egg whites, 1 whole egg, turkey sausage, mushrooms, onion, baby spinach,  jalapeno peppers and a slice of American cheese scrambled together.

I latter had chicken breast with stir fry veggies that was a leftover from dinner and my leftover chicken soup.  Maybe this was slightly larger than I needed, I sure did enjoy it though.  Time flew by and it was dinner time after my PM workout.  I cooked some chicken breasts in a pan and made tortilla wraps for dinner.  I added lettuce to one and baby spinach leaves to the other.  I spread some Tzatziki yogurt sauce (more like a spread or dip) on both of them.  It was home run!

Today something wonderful happened, Daisy was on cuteness overload!  She curled up on the bed for a nap and curled under the blanket end that was doubled over.  I never saw her do this before.  

She also did something that brought tears of laughter to my eyes.  It is something my and my parent’s dogs have done on occasion.

Daisy did not stop being cute there either, after my wife cleaned the cling-ons from her butt, she decided to join us on the couch.  Daisy does not usually do that so today was really cool that she did.  

She often has laser-beam eyes, so I took another one when she was not looking.  

What a great way to spend the day!

Week 51 Day 7

One week left on my first year of training and losing weight.  I missed my mark of losing 100 pounds, but I am so much more healthy today and so much more physically capable today.  WooHoo!

I was tired today and needed a nap but did not take one. My weight lifting suffered. I also feel like I might be getting sick with another cold. Time will tell if I am getting sick. Today was an ok day for food. I picked up some lean ground beef patties and made a double stack cheese burger on a whole wheat roll. Since I was a bit bad with lunch I made a veggie stirfry to go with the baked chicken leftovers. I bet that is going to do wonderfull things to my digestive system. Look at all those veggies!
