Y2W22 Day 5

Today was pretty good.  I lifted this morning for 35 minutes and then did 25 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I worked my day and was really sore from sitting at my desk.  I was sore to the point I needed to go to 7-11 and get some advil.    Once it was time to go I was feeling a little bit better.  I made it to the gym and the place was fairly empty.  I decided to do some additional lifting.  I did something crazy, I did hack squats.  I started at 90 pounds as I usually do.  I did a set there and added another 90 pounds and did a set.  I  added 90 poundsagain  and did another set.  I added 90 more pounds for a total of 360 pounds and did a set.  I then worked my was back down.  This was a personal best for me.  I was in the zone!  I then did 30 minutes of elliptical machine as a bonus.  Today rocked!

Dinner was a rushed pre-cooked meal that came together nicely.  It tasted good and looked good too!          

So it is late and it is time for bed, good night America!

Y2W22 Day 4

5.25 mile jog!

We did it again, a great run this morning.  We were not feeling our greatest due to lack of sleep from the knuckleheads in the neighborhoods shooting off fireworks into the night and a poor diet during the day of burgers, hot-dogs and ice cream!  It was still a good run though.  We just about matched our previous time to the seconds.  Before we know it we will be doing 6 miles or more and not even thinking about it.

I did hit the gym again after work and pushed through 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I had a sweat going and I felt like I got something out of it.

My meals today were pretty good too.  I had Jamaican curry chicken over rice with some plantains.  I felt like I was eating at a gourmet restaurant instead of a cafeteria.

For dinner we had apple chicken sausage with peppers and onions.  This is becoming a regular for us to enjoy.

Tomorrow  is Friday and the end of the work week.  I am welcoming it as this weekend I will have a chance to see my side of the family.  I don’t get to see them often, but when I do it is always a good time.  Family time is fun time!

Y2W22 Day 3

Happy Independence Day!  Happy 4th of July!

To celebrate our independence we went for a hike this morning.  It was a good one, we got out before the real heat kicked in but found ourselves in the heat before we were done.  We had big plans for the day, we were going to ride down to see the fireworks but it is in the high 90’s and my wife is feeling a bit under the weather so we will watch them from the comfort of the couch this year.  I am totally OK with that!  It is too hot and I would be eaten up by bugs so I don’t mind.

Y2W22 Day 2

It is so good to be back in my routine!

This morning we upped our distance again working towards the ten mile goal for the Army Ten Miler coming up in October.  This morning we did 5.3 miles.  We did it in under an hour and felt pretty good doing it.  I was dreading the run since I worked this weekend doing 20 hours of overtime, not eating right and not exercising at all.Starting out I was worried I was going to struggle too much but I did it OK.  My wife was would have been much faster without me but she was happy with what we did also.

I worked my day and made it to the gym for an additional 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I do feel right again.  I feel like I found my way back to being in the zone.  That is a good thing.  When I finally got home I saw a squirrel was running away from our tomato plants with a green tomato in his mouth!  That little bastard!  So I stand quietly next to the garage and he sits at the base of the tree and eats the tomato right in front of me!  He better leave me some or there will be some squirrel stew in my future.

Look to the base of the tree and look near the cargo net.  you can see the green orb which is the tomato.  the squirrel is holding the tomato in his paws.  He was too far away for my cell phone to get a good picture but I see him there, I know what he did!

Y2W22 Day 1 UPDATED!

AM:

30 min elliptical machine.

 

Working the 20 hours of overtime his weekend took its toll on me.  I was still tired this morning and not myself.  I slept in and did a shorter amount of time in the gym.   I hope to be back in the groove tomorrow morning.  My posting will be sporadic until Internet service can be restored in my neighborhood.

Friday we experienced a terrible thunderstorm that took out power to 2 million people in the Maryland, DC and Virginia area.  As of this morning there were still close to five hundred thousand folks without power.    There are trees and power lines still down in neighborhoods and signal lights not working.  Verizon lost service during the storm and as a result local police  departments lost their 911 service.  Folks died because of the storm.  I am glad our families and neighbors all made it through this OK.

Update:   The TV and internet service has been restored!  Oh Joy!

Still no internet or TV at home.  I worked Sunday and did not work out.  I was too tired in the AM to hit the gym.

Today was a 13.5 hour work day at a site an hour away. No exercise today plus a poor night of sleep from the storm. Off to bed!

Today was a pretty good day. I had a great jog with my wife in the morning, work was OK and I had a good workout in the afternoon. This weekend is going to be a crazy one with needed to work rough hours off site so I don’t know how my exercising or blogging here will go. I will be getting up at 2:30 am to go to work for what could be a 14 to 16 hour day and may need to repeat many hours on Sunday. I hope not but it could happen. I will not be exercising tomorrow afternoon so I can get in bed by 6pm and I will not be exercising Saturday morning. I doubt I will be having the energy to work out after shift on Saturday and Sunday might be a recuperation day. WOW scary.

Today I took it easy and skipped the gym in the afternoon. I have been having a headache nag me for most of the day. I did get a haircut though to take advantage of the time that would have been spent in the gym.

Tonight for dinner I cooked a middle eastern themed meal. I cooked lamb chops, spinach and also some mashed chick peas. Dinner rocked!

Seeing the picture here it looks like I made creamed corn.  That is not corn it is mashed up chick peas, I swear!
