Y2W21 Day 2

Today was a good day!  We started our day with a 4.23 mile jog.  We had some hills and some flats and we did well.  I felt good and energized most of the day.  I did not even try to go back to bed after the run which is something I had not done in a while.

I rode my scooter to work today which was great.  Of course the ride is only a few miles so it was not epic in any way, but I really did enjoy the felt of riding again.  I was considering pedaling in but was worried my knees might bother me after the run so the scooter was a no brainer!

Once home after work I did a garage weight lifting session.  I did 4 sets of body weight squats and 2 sets of weighted squats.  My knees were not loving it so I chose to body weight only squats for 4 sets in stead of just a warm up set.  From there I did 4 sets of over head chest presses and 3 sets of curls with the E-Z-Bar.  Next came the cargo net.  I climbed the net twice and really felt the burning in my forearms and triceps.  I called it a day and my wife got home and wanted to climb the net too so I ended up doing 2 more climbs.  Wow it felt good!

So who knows what tomorrow will bring, but I am ready for it!

Y2W21 Day 1

AM:
walked 10 minutes at 10 % incline
jogged a minute walked a minute for 10 minutes
40 minutes elliptical machine

PM:
30 minutes elliptical machine

Today was an OK day. I worked at my desk most of the day so not enough activity at work, but I feel like a did pretty good at the gym. Tomorrow morning is a run day so I did not want to over do it with jogging this morning so I walked some at incline. If the weather turns into something bad tomorrow I will jog tomorrow on the treadmill and get my time in.

It was supposed to rain today so I drove my truck but I totally could have pedaled in or rode my scooter. I never saw a drop of rain today. I hope it does not surprise us in the morning.

Y2W20 Day 7

Another day down.

AM:
weight lifting
4 sets Bench press
6 sets leg press
4 sets curls
4 sets check fly machine

Today we went for a hike at Donaldson Run. We went down to the river as well as hike back up to the overlook park. We were out there for over 2 hours and had a good time. We also rode the scooter there and back which was nice. It was the first time this year we rode and I realized how much I had missed it! I hope to get a few rides in this week. That is one thing I really miss about not working at Walter Reed. I would ride through Rock Creek Park in the mornings and it was always a pleasure.

Y2W20 Day 6

FAMILY FUN DAY!

Today was a great day!  I started it with a trip to the gym and 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I did some quick grocery shopping for some last minute items for Family Fun Day and then it was home to shower and grab some breakfast.

We had 3 generations of family there today.  I was in the elder group!  pretty wild.  We had some great fun laughing and joking.   As the young ones were watching Ghost whisperer  I would ask about zombies.  Over and over again.  It never got old for me.   The youngest generation was great to play with too.  Late in the day I found out growling like  a dog would bring such laughter!  I had run around in the back yard like a fool growling and giggling as the wee one would race into me then fall over, or the dog would race around me playfully snarling.   FUN!

There was family visiting from California that we don’t see much so it was a treat to see her again, and we also saw another family member that lives and works local and has grown up to be a good dude.  I learned he has a scooter and bought a camper as an impulse buy and has plans for fun while working to support him fun.   Who knows, me and the wife may be borrowing the camper some time in the future for some holiday trips.

Days like this is what life is all about,  and Bro,  Life is good!

Y2W20 Day 5

We ran 4.25 miles this in 84 degree weather at 4:30 AM!

Wow what a great sweat!

Today was an OK day.  I felt pretty good but was not active enough with my job, it just was not an active type of day.  I raced home today to try and figure out how I can watch the UFC on Fuel TV  but could not find a way to see Nicky Catone’s fight.   Bummer all around.  I never did make it to the gym.  I hope I have better energy tomorrow so I can try to do some extra.

Y2W20 Day 4

What a hot morning!  I went for a 3 mile jog in an attempt to get myself acclimated to the heat.  We are going to be having more of it as summer goes on.  I was slower than I wanted to be at close to 12 minute miles but I felt OK with it at the time.

I was bad at work today with my eating.  I had a taco salad for lunch and I know it had to be maxed out in calories.  Dinner was at least better with baked chicken, asparagus and egg noodles.

My PM workout was 40 minutes on the elliptical machine.  The gym was really crowded today.  It was more crowded than I think I have ever seen it.  I picked a machine further away from folks but  still ended up next to someone as there was no other machines available.  I had a funny experience,  I started to race the person without them knowing it.  That is a game my wife and I play sometimes.  We end up asking each other, honey are you racing me?  I did not ask the other person if we were racing!  you can’t break the unwritten rule of pretending no one is next to you!

And on an unrelated note Nicky Catone made weight for his fight in the UFC tomorrow,  Go Nicky we will be rooting for you!

So the day was pretty good, I am prety tired and I look forward to tomorrow!

pedalled my bike to and from work 34 minutes total

19 minutes walk through the neighborhood after dinner with my honey bunny!

Today was a good day. I did a lot of up and down, and reaching to work in the data center today. I feel good. I felt great riding home in the heat which surprised me. It felt hotter in the morning going into work. I guess the long pants made a difference and the humidity felt worse in the morning. Dinner rocked as usual, I cooked some chicken and apple sausages with bell peppers. YUM!

Y2W20 Day 2

We jogged 4.25 miles this AM!  It was good.  It was warm and humid and I had a great sweat.  I am still not back to the speed I was at before torqueing my knee a long while back but I am inching there ever so slowly.   It is a cool positive thing to think about how our normal morning jog is now 4 miles.  We can just head out and do it.  No fus no muss.

I worked the day away and made it to the gym for 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I was having delusions of grandeur at work after lunch.  I was picturing myself jogging at the gym for my PM workout.  It all seemed so real and possible, until I sat down at work for the last half hour and needed to take off my hiking books and rest my sore ankles.  I even needed to take some Advil.  Obviously there was no extra running today.

Food was good today with dinner being the best!  Salmon with spinach.  YUM!

Y2W20 Day 1

Can you believe it, it rained this morning.  Not like we were going to run, but it rained this morning.  I did get lucky and get parking right outside the entrance to the gym, than never happens!  I did 50 minutes on the elliptical machine for my am routine.  It felt good.

I made it through the day and did not feel like hitting the gym so I headed home and did a garage workout.  I did overhead presses, cargo net climb, and standing curls.  My arms were burning!  I was eaten up by mosquitoes.  I will need to use some bug spray out there next time.  one got me good on the forehead and I look like I bumped my head on something.  The swelling is not going down so hopefully in the morning I will look normal.  I am glad I built the cargo net.  I still need to find a way to secure it better at the base so it does not twist.  I may need to re-engineer the attaching point to the tree and move it out away from the trunk so I can get some more swinging with the climbing.  I’ll get it figured out eventually.

Y2W19 Day 7

Sunday, Sunday, happy Father’s Day!

Today was an easy paced day.  I hit the gym and did 45 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I felt pretty good.  I got home and caught up on some TV,  did a few house chores and even cleared the impossible level on Diablo 3 that was keeping me from playing it again.  My wife got home today from visiting with family  and we enjoyed a great dinner together and watched some TV relaxing on the couch.  Life is good to us both.
