Y2W18 Day 3

I jogged 5 miles this morning!  I was slow averaging 12 minute miles but I did it!  I am glad I did too.  I have been feeling like I have been losing my distance ability as well as getting slower.  Today was a step in the right direction.

For my afternoon workout I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine.  I broke a sweat but did not kill myself.  It felt good even after my morning run.  My ankles were slightly sore but nothing bad or like I used to feel.  Today made me feel good all day.

Y2W18 Day 2

What a start to my day,   as I was getting into my truck at 4:50 AM to go to the gym I had an accident.  I popper the cap on my re-usable water bottle and dropped it on the passenger seat (Thank GOD for it not being the driver’s seat!).  As I quickly reach to grab the bottle before it hits the seat I pressed the panic button on my truck’s wireless entry key.  The headlights start to flash and the horn sounds repeated on and off all while most everyone in the neighborhood is still in bed.  I put the key in the ignition and start the truck and the alarm is still going off.  What a knuckle-headed thing I did!  I needed to press the panic button again to silence it.    At least that was the worst thing that happened to me all day.

Y2W18 Day 1

So today I tried to jog in the morning.  Boy did that not work!  I had quite a bathroom session this morning prior to the run and needed to go again a few blocks from the house.  We cut it short and we only did a mile this morning.  After I hit the bathroom I went to the gym  where I did 40 min on the elliptical machine.  Life was back on track!  I saw the something really funny today at the gym.  One of the trainers was walking funny with his arm elevated like he had hurt it.  Turns out there was a butterfly that was in the gym and it had landed on him.  It was on his arm and he was escorting it outside.  That was very unexpected to see at 6am!

Today after work I was still feeling bad about missing my run so i decided to go for a jog.  I went down to shirlington and jogged on the bike trail from there.  I ended up doing 30 minutes and covered 2.6 miles.  Not bad.  I hope to be back in the zone tomorrow and will try to run on the treadmill tomorrow.  Here’s to a good night of sleep and a good workout in the morning!

Today was a generally a good day. I lifted at the gym, played diablo 3, went for a hike with my wife, it had it all. But the day did not seem like it flowed well. I cant’t explain it, for as good as it was it could have been better. I forgot something important, I gave our cat a bath. She did not care for it too much but did not try to claw her way through my body to get out so that was good. she was way more freaked out last time.

There was even someone fishing!  Pretty cool,  but the river was so muddy from all the rains I don’t think he was going to have much luck.  We saw some trails to try out next time we go there so we have more adventures in our future!

Y2W17 Day 5

I over did it yesterday with the squats!  I new I did as soon as I started feeling sore doing the squats.  That is just how it is sometimes.  My plan was to get up early and jog 6 miles today to push myself.  I just was not meant to be.  My leg muscles we screaming so I headed to the gym.  I did the lower body elliptical machine for 40 minutes then the bike for 15 minutes.  It was enough.

I worked my day today and we were busy at a crazy pace most of the day.  We got done what was needing to be done.  I really was noticing how much my leg muscles were sore every time I got up or sat down.  I needed to take more Advil at work.  I skipped the PM workout today.  I would not be able to push it and I did not want to strain things any worse.  On the way home from work I stopped by and picked up some middle eastern takeout.  I bought a veggie platter to go with the chicken my wife baked last night.  It was good!  I hope to feel better tomorrow, but either way I will be hitting the gym!

Y2W17 Day 4

WHY?  WHY?  Because…that’s why!

Today was a pretty good day. It had a chance to be epic but I blew it on the eating by trying having biscuits and gravy at work as a second breakfast instead of fruit with yogurt as a snack. I added way more calories and fat than I needed to, but I had to try it. I really like to treat myself to biscuits and gravy every month or so and I could not believe it when I saw it. I tried it and liked it. It was not my favorite or best I have ever eaten, but it was good. I will get it again if the mood ever hits me at work.

As for the epic part, well the day flowed well, I got to enjoy a bike ride to and from work and I did a garage weight lifting workout. I did squats today which is something I have not done in a while. Lately at the gym I have been doing leg presses and hack squats using the machines. Since I tweaked my knee trail running a while back I have not been able to leg press near my 810lb max. Mostly I have been lifting 450lb or if I am feeling really good 540lbs. The squats I did today were tough. My knees were not liking the pressure and bending so I tricked them some. I did a set with weight, then I did a set of 10 body weight only, then a heavier set of weight, then back to body weight. This worked better for me and my knees loosened up and felt OK. My leg muscles on the other hand, well I overdid it! I might have pulled or strained a muscle. I was feeling a tightness in my inner thigh leg muscle. Enough so that I was limping some. I took some Advil and now that I have been sitting for a couple hours I feel better. I hope I did not really over do it and not be able to exercise in the morning. Well no pain no gain.

Today was a good day.

Today was a good day, I had a great morning workout, an easy but busy day at work and then off to my afternoon workout which was also a good one. I had the pleasure of making a steak dinner with mushrooms and served it over a salad. I did eat some pasta also and will hopefully be good to go for my morning run. The weather has been threatening rain almost every day so I have not been pedaling into work much lately. That will hopefully change soon as I really want to get back to riding in. I hope to be adding distance to my running again starting next week. I think I will be back to where I need to be mentally and physically. I hope by the end of July to be jogging a 10 mile distance so I can time myself and see where I might be. It is good to have goals.

Back to the grind!

AM:
34 min jog with my wife

PM:
22 min aerobics

Today was a good day. I felt good exercising (up until I really needed to use the bathroom!) and ate differently today. I did not eat breakfast at home, I waited until I got into work. This saved me about 400 to 500 calories on the start. I don’t know if I will always do this but it is something I need to explore.

Dinner rocked today, We had salmon, corn on the cob and broccoli. It felt good to eat a regular meal.

Y2W17 Day 1

Travel day!

Finally made it home. This will be a bad week for weight gain as I was eating way off diet. No problems though. I will be starting a crash course on eating right for the next 6 to 8 weeks. I will be visiting with family at the beach and I want to really make the effort to hit my 100 pound goal. I think with a goal in mind I will do what I need to to get there.
